| STORM
DAMAGE
West Pennant Hills
Sun-Greenaway were engaged
by AAMI to attend this property when a huge tree had crashed
through the centre of the large brick veneer home during
a storm in February 2005. The images show the destruction
wrought by the tree impact.
The priority was to remove the tree from within the house
and then remove all the smashed timber and roof tiles to
enable the roof to be covered by tarpaulins to protect against
water entry damage. This was successfully undertaken using
our specialist team of tradesmen and the use of cherry picker
access equipment. The property did not suffer any water
entry once the emergency work was complete.
Sun-Greenaway provided and won a tender for the reconstruction
of the damaged building. A Scope of Work was prepared by
a Structural Engineer who specialises in such damage and
he supervised the reconstruction work. The original truss
and frame manufacturer was engaged to manufacture and deliver
the roof trusses. The building was methodically rebuilt
from the concrete slab upwards and as the images below show,
when complete the finished building looked like new.
When we first inspected the damage the Owner was distraught
and thought his home was a write-off. After structural investigation
it was determined that the building could be successfully
reinstated and Sun-Greenaway undertook this within budget
and on time. |
